At Performance Sport & Spine we take a unique approach to conservative care. We facilitate healing through a combination of movement science and manual therapy while utilizing an integrated approach that combines both tradition and non-traditional chiropractic treatment.
Though it may seem counter-intuitive, the painful area is often not the source of the problem. Many times we are unaware of movement inefficiencies until the movement or activity becomes painful. We analyze your movement to find the true source of problem “the culprit” as well as address the area of pain “the victim.” Let’s say for instance you have an old injury to your hip leaving it less mobile. This causes your low back and/or knee to have to compensate and “work overtime.” This is sustainable for a while, however at some point this site or sites will become painful. Until the hip is treated, the low back will remain symptomatic.
This approach is designed to expedite recovery by determining quickly if the treatment is correct or not. Let’s take the low back example from above. After our evaluation we find out that there is pain with a certain hip movement. Then we treat the hip and retest the original provocative movement. If there wasn’t significant reduction in pain, then that wasn’t the correct choice and the process is repeated until there is a significant reduction in pain. This is a fantastic way to “connect the dots” on whole-body movement that will help explain the source of pain and correct any movement dysfunction(s)
